The Punishment for selfishness – Aesop’s Fables

A horse and an ass were going with their master. The ass had to carry much weight on its back. It was impossible to traverse. He breathed rapidly and told the horse – “Brother, I am unable to go on. Please share some goods.”

The horse did not agree to his proposal.

So the think happend. The ass turned down. He became dead.

Now the master took all the goods from the ass. He put them to the horse’s back. And the horse had to carry the skin of the dead ass also.

Lo such weight? How can I tolerate this. The horse became very much tired. Tears trickled down from his eyes. He rebuked himself. Why had I not permitted the ass to put some weight on my back.
