The bird and the fowler – Aesop’s Fables

The bird was caught in the trap of a fowler. He cried. He requested the fowler to set him free.

The bird said—“Please leave me, and I shall give you reward. I shall take many birds towards you. They will be caught by you. This is my word. Please think if you leave one bird, you will get many birds.”

The fowler said, “Your proposal is not bad. But you will not be free. You are selfish. You want to harm your friends and relatives in order to save yourself. You should be killed. That will bring happiness to all.”
