Sunil Manohar Gavaskar is one of the great cricketers of the world. He is the charismatic one by his consistency for cricket. He is the world’s top batsman by his brilliant records on the cricket ground. He has hit 34 centuries and broken the previous record of Don Bradman’s 29 centuries.

Sunil Gavaskar was born on 10th July 1949 in Bombay. From his very childhood, he showed potential for cricket, while playing in his school team. His test career began during Indian Team’s tour to West Indies in 1971. He is the only Indian batsman to score highest.

He has the ability to defy the law of averages, He has the courage to be himself, which made him charismatic. He is the arche-type opening batsman. He has 17 years international career in Cricket. His historic 1971 defeat to the Caribbean, where he scored 774 runs in just four Tests, marked him out as a batsman destined for greatness. It was a promise realised in full measure.

Indian team made achievements under his leadership by winning the ‘Asian Cup’ and the ‘Benson & Hedges World Cup’ tournaments. He received many honours and awards for his achievements in Cricket. He received ‘Arjuna Award’ in 1975 and ‘Badma Bhushan’ in 1980. He has also written some popular books on cricket like Idols, Runs and Ruins, Sunny Days and One Day Wonders.
