Sathya Sai Baba was the super human, a God to his devotees. He was a Divine man having immense love for humanity, even for animals. He was the inspiration and satisfaction of millions of people.
Sai Baba was born on November 23,1926 in Puttaparthi, a remote village in Karnatka to a Hindu family. Young Baba displayed a special nature even in childhood. From the very childhood, he showed tremendous kindness and would invite beggars, and weaker section people. At the age of 8, he showed a miraculous power in him. He declared that he was Sai Baba reborn. At the age of 14 on 20th Oct. 1940, he announced that he did not belong to his family. Then followed a series of miracles, which included his power of Omnipresence, curing devotees of incurable diseases by his Grace.
He established a voluntary organisation known as Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation. It’s activities in the field of education, medicare and social care, span the entire globe, spread over 9,000 centers in over 165 countries including our own India. He says “There is only one Religion, The Religion of Life”.
At Prasanthi Nilayam, a Sri Sathya Sad Institute of Higher Learning which is a Deemed University, was established. It teaches the science of material world as well as the science of Supreme Atman. The aim of Sathya Sad Education is not only to transform the heart and but also physical world. Sai Baba’s devotees today include former Presidents, Prime Ministers, Supreme Court Judges and a significant section of the country’s political and administrative leaders. Millions of his devotees throughout the world engage themselves in the uplifting of the poor. They have set up a Sri Sathya He had also been concerned about drinking water. In 1995, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust commenced work on a project to supply pure drinking water to villages in the district of Anantpur. The Chennai Drinking Water Project in 2004, supplies water to Chennai through a rebuilt waterway named ‘Sathya Sai Ganga Canal’. In 2008, 2 million flood affected people of Orissa received 69 houses for a relief measure from Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization.
Sathya Sai Baba died on 24 April 2011 at tire age of 84.
