Sabeer Bhatia whose brain child ‘Hotmail’ changed the way people send e-mail, can be rightly called Indian Bill Gates. Bhatia became famous almost overnight, when Microsoft bought Hotmail from Bhatia for $400 million in 1997. Sabeer grew up in Bangalore and went to I US to get Degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford. After graduation, he took up a job Lat Apple Computer as a Hardware Engineer. Bhatia, after meeting entrepreneurs all over the world and gathered this simple formula that it took ordinary people to do extraordinary work So, along with his friend Jack Smith, Sabeet brainstormed the idea of free e-mail accounts that could be accessed anonymously, over the web, from any where in the world! On July 4,1996—US Independence day— Bhatia and Smith launched their company, Hotmail, with three subscribers. Today Hotmail boasts of 369 million subscribers in 230 countries. Sabeer Bhatia is an ideal—atleast for many [young ‘enterpreneurs’ in India who dream to Lake it big in silicon valley. Because it was here where two 27 year old guys, borrowed $300,000, with no experience in consumer products, who had never started a company [before, no experience, built the fastest growing [media company in history.
