Jasdev Singh is a great broadcaster and commentator of India. He popularised hindi commen-try in India. Rightly, he is called Bhism Pitamah of Commentary in hindi.

Jasdev Singh was born in Jaipur. He graduated from Maharaja College of Jaipur. He decided to become a commentator on 31st January 1948, when he heard the touching and lively commentary of Funeral procession of the father of the nation, Gandhiji by the commentator Malwill Demillo. Demillo’s voice inspired him and Jasdev Singh followed his path. He practised his good voice, nurtured his language, vocabulary, pronunciation. At the same time he had a sharp eye blended with uninterrupted spoken ability.

He achieved his confidence when he spoke at the speed of 250 words/minute in a match. Jasdev Singh considers it a great achievement of his life when the Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi appreciated him after lively commentary of winning of a match by saying, “I felt as if I was present at the match by your lively commentary”. He gave his commentary on different occasions like Olympic games, Asian games, Cricket test Match and commentary of Republic Day, Independence day etc. He joined All India Radio, Jaipur and then moved on to Delhi. He has worked in television also.

He was awarded with Padmashri, Padma Bhushan, Olympic order etc. He has written his biography “Mein Jasdev Singh Bol Raha Hun”.
